40 Minute Guided Body Scan
Mindfulness meditation is the most evidence based type of brain training that alters the structure and function of the brain. Having studied mindfulness & mindfulness meditation in a formal academic capacity at University of Toronto helped me form a much better understanding about this powerful practice.
Body scan is one type of mindfulness meditation that is part of “mindfulness Based Stress Reduction MBSR” program.
Our moods, anxiety and stress related symptoms are often experienced as bodily sensations that we often are repelled by and try to avoid them. This may increase our level of stress, negative mood, emotions and thoughts and making the situation worse than it needs to be.
In practicing Body Scan, you are learning to deliberately hold and release your attention and to be with whatever is arising, whether it is wanted or unwanted in order that this capacity can be accessible during difficult times or when you experience challenging emotions.
